The iSIMLab design took place over a number of decades and resulted in the following:
- An Internet Application which has 3 portals
- A Dr Portal where a patients EMR records are uploaded, simulators created, cloned and a different drug protocol run on each of the clones
- A Researcher Portal for the creation of different versions of the Human Body Simulators
- A Data Mining Portal where run results can be collated and reports generated

Scalability
Scalability becomes an issue as building and running extremely large application such as a human body simulator and it’s clones can take extensive resources. iSIMlab’s resources are scaled across a series of clustered web servers providing the scalability to easily run these applications in a near real time environment.

Accelerated time
iSIMLab is set by default to run 1000 times faster than the wall clock so a 2 week simulated treatment period runs in 20 minutes.

Philosophy
iSIMLab’s top down design philosophy is to prioritize the global communication infrastructure first. This allows for
- automated POST, power on self-test communications
- a global plugins architecture where
- an adapter plugin imports legacy components
- an HBP plugin provides the human body Subject and Prognosis modules and
- a IVP plugin provides inVitro capability
